One of my cats favorite things are bubbles. You will get seriously dizzy before they tire out! As I took some pictures of my latest fosters, I introduced the bubbles to get some fun shots of them. As well as pictures of the kittens, I took pictures of the bubbles on their own. Or I attempted to. It was much harder than expected. Especially with the limited lighting at the moment. I managed to get two okay-ish photos.

In Lightoom, I made all the shadows and background white. Figured it was easier to work with a blank canvas than trying to force a specific edit on a dimly lit photo. I imported into Mextures where layers upon layers of gradients made it the picture you see now. I went in there with unlimited choices/edits. I didn't have anything in mind, but these were the colors that appealed to me, most. of course.

I hope you all enjoy.

I was working on a color palette with autumn colors when this week's wallpaper happened. As it often does, it started with different colors and through edits and exports changed.

I had two layers of horizontal lines that became the foundation/pattern. Through more layers, I added a couple of colors to give it some dimension. Mextures and VSCO apps provided it the finishing touches.

I hope you all enjoy!

Last weekend I found myself in California's Central Coast. Living in Southern California, I'm not new to beaches or the ocean but the weather is 30-35 degrees cooler there and that was my favorite part. It truly makes everything so much more enjoyable. Cold, rain, no sunshine... everyday. Please!

The afternoon brought a thick layer of fog and it was just beautiful. Pictures don't do it justice, but I sure tried. I took one of the pictures from my camera roll and imported into Mextures  (it's a must for me at this point) and layer by layer, I was able to fade and smooth the visible waves to work with the fog look. I added a couple of gradients (still in Mextures) to create some shadows.

I hope you all enjoy!

So now onto this week's wallpaper submission:

This past weekend was my father's birthday and we found ourselves near the beach. Of course, beautiful scenery demands to be photographed. I took a couple of the waves, boats, bubbles, and people but this one had a pattern to it. I liked how simple it was but at the same time had a lot of potential. I edited it in Lightroom and Photoshop in various colors but this combination was easier on the eyes and homescreen layout.

I imported to my right hand app, Mextures, and via some previously made formulas, gave it a softer, watercolor, feel to it.

I hope you all enjoy.

Thoughts On My New iPad Pro - A Review by Justin Klein

The 10.5 iPad Pro has been a remarkable device, so far. In all honesty, I haven’t looked back once. I appreciate the eas of use this device brings to my life. I think of this device as a one-stop-shop for my computing needs.

One of the coolest accessories available for this device is the Apple Pencil. I am constantly finding new ways that I can use the Pencil on my iPad. I have also found that I enjoy using my iPad with an external keyboard and a TwelveSouth Compass Stand. It makes me feel like I am sitting at a Mac.

I had contemplated purchasing one of the new 27" iMacs, but chose not to because I didn’t want to feel like I had to sit at my desk every time I wanted to use it. That’s what makes the iPad Pro so great. I can quickly pick it up, go wherever I want to go and continue where I left off.

I have even started podcasting on my iPad. With the purchase of a Lightning to USB dongle, I was quickly on my way to be able to hook up my Blue Yeti microphone for podcasting. With the Split View feature, I can have Google Docs and Safari going at the same time so I am able to look at our show notes and research topics while recording a podcast.

Apple is taking a very aggressive approach with iOS 11. Because of that, I feel the iPad will become the sole device for many Apple users. As I stated in the beginning, I have no plans of going back to the Mac and I’m extremely excited to see what the future holds for the iPad.

There's this wall in my backyard that houses all my succulent plants. They range from small planters to large ones that require two people to move. This is a picture of one of those. The sun was setting and casted the perfect shadows.

In Lightroom, I made the shadows darker to allow the little bit of light to stand out. I imported into Mextures on my iPad Pro and added a couple of gradients, then into Photoshop to edit the center and make the green to stand out.

Hope you all enjoy!

There are dozens of pictures on my iPhone that I take, edit and end up placing in a "come back to it" folder. I like them enough, I'll eventually share them or resize them as wallpapers but not right now. Most times it's something missing and I'm not one-hundred percent sold on it. This week's wallpaper is from that folder. It's from May and somewhere in Los Angeles. I don't recall where but I remember falling in love with these giant (banana leaf. maybe?) plants. The sky was too white in the original edit. I imported into Photoshop and adjusted (which turned into completely change) the tones with the curve tool.

I hope you all enjoy!

My mother has a collection of plants on her kitchen window. It's a large window, there are a lot of plants. I was testing the lighting in the kitchen whilst I recuperated from the five minutes I spent outside (102F) and noticed that the sun light was faint but created great colors, shadows and emphasized the green. The neighbor's house is a light coral which provided a great background.

I brought out the reds in Lightroom and toned down the greens. Less bright, more serene was the feel I was aiming for.

I hope you all enjoy.

I purchased this pour over coffee maker to use at my parents. They're the instant coffee type of sinners and I felt it was my duty to lead them back to the right path. I noticed that the steam on this day was perfectly aligned with the morning sunlight coming through the window. My camera was in my car, enter Portrait Mode in the iPhone 7 Plus.

I tried to go with more of a film edit to match the mood. I edited in Lightroom and transferred to my trusty ol' Mextures to emphasize the shadows a bit more.

I hope you all enjoy.

This week's wallpaper comes a little late and comes from Disneyland. There's a section of the park where it's dedicated to Snow White. There's a wishing well, dwarfs and ducks in this pond surrounded by trees. It's one of my favorite spots in the park and it's so hidden.

I imported into Lightroom to emphasize the shadows. I then transferred into Mextures for some light leaks to soften some of the harsher lines/colors.

I hope you all enjoy!

So far, Summer has been one three digit (F) day challenging the next. Ninety degree days are the "good" days. Of course, there's no fighting it but we have to find a way to not lose it. Enter bodies of water! This particular weekend was at my parents. Their pool. My iPhone 7 Plus in portrait mode.

I couldn't really see the picture until after, but the sun created such great colors and shadows that there was little editing done. I imported into Mextures and added an overlay that darkened the aqua hues. This way it'd automatically turn the Lockscreen font white and make everything legible.

I hope you all enjoy!

More than once I've taken my DSLR out and have forgotten my memory card. This is the reason I rotate between four. To simplify my digital life, I transferred all those pictures to my external drive and formatted the cards. As I was doing this, a dozen or so pictures stood out for their wallpaper capabilities. This week's wallpaper is one of those. It was taken sometime last Winter (for sake of technical name, this season doesn't exist in California). Thirty minutes before the sun set and my pups got to burn off their last bit of energy. I grabbed my camera and took a picture of these tiny weeds with the most perfect sunlight.

I worked off those colors in Lightroom and emphasized the shadows and greens in Mextures. Very little to edit thanks to that beautiful sunshine.

I hope you all enjoy!

This week's wallpaper is of pictures I took last month for a blog post. It was one of many and I had gone through with editing and resizing it but lost it when my external hard drive decided to bail on me last week. I bought another one, from Apple this time, so better luck to us! Even though my hard drive quit on me, I still had the original file(s) because anybody who's ever lost digital content has backups of their backups. Amirite?!

The image was shot under very good lighting, therefore needed very little. I edited in Lightroom and added a couple of lilac and rose gradient layers in Photoshop.

I hope you all enjoy!

This week's wallpaper idea came from a stripes wallpaper I found online but was too vibrant to make anything legible. I decided to create my own but with shades of blue. Creature of habit.

A couple of versions of that, and I found a base I was happy with. I added various gradients to give it a rainbow (of blues) effect where the colors blended better.

I hope you all enjoy!

I'm still testing what this iPhone 7 Plus can do. This week's wallpaper is a result of those trials.

I have a couple of hibiscus trees in my backyard. A couple of days ago, whilst I watched my dogs chase each other around and fight over a leaf (true story!), I took a couple of pictures of one of the trees. The background (wood) was taking away from their beauty. The idea to incorporate the sky instead of the fencing popped into my head. I laid down, fought off death by doggy kisses, and managed to get some great shots.

It was such a beautiful shot on it's own that I didn't want to change too much. I added some grain, lightened the blue and magenta hues and sharpened.

Enjoy!

So now onto this week's wallpaper submission:

This week Apple released new accessories for the iPhone, iPad and Watch. One of the colors that really jumped at me was the 'Flamingo' (coral) one. I decided to play around with various shades of the coral/orange family for this week's wallpaper. It took hours to get the coloring right. I've mentioned that in order for a wallpaper to pass that final test of mine, there has to be homescreen clarity. The first few versions were coming out too dark or too light (thanks weird lockscreen overlay). Once that layer was just right, I added layers of my favorite blues and a few other colors that accentuated the coral in the original layer.

The final image has a lava lamp feel but... I like. Hope you do too!

A couple of days ago I managed to capture (via iPhone) the sunset from the top of the hill. The past week I've been testing the Plus' Portrait Mode in various scenarios/lighting. Typically, with nature/flowers it tends to blur too much and leave them floating but with this picture, it blurred just enough.

I had imported into Mextures but wanted to switch up the similar color palette I tend to stick with. I transferred to Photoshop where I removed all traces of the sunset and via gradients, gave it a night sky type of look. Photoshop brushes helped create the stars and random color leaks provided the finishing touches.

I hope you all enjoy!

JUUK Ligero Watch Band - An Apple Watch Band Review by Justin Klein

I have a problem: I’m addicted to Apple Watch bands. I’m always looking for the next piece to add to my collection. One company I’ve had my eye on is JUUK Design. When viewing their website for the first time, it’s easy to note that design, quality, fit and finish were their top priority. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one of their watch bands. The owner, Eugene Ho, was gracious enough to send me their latest creation for review.

My first impression of the Ligero can be stated simply: WOW, this band is gorgeous! It’s the first of it’s kind to be made from 6061 series aluminum, which is commonly used in the aircraft and automotive industries. Apple-like in it’s packaging, you are greeted with the band, a proprietary link removal tool and extra pins when you open it up. A solid stainless steel butterfly clasp is used to bring the band together.

The fit and feel are like no other. Normally, when using a metal band, your wrist can feel weighted down or ache over time. The weight of this band is closer to one of Apple’s fluoroelastomer bands. However. despite several weeks of use, I see no signs of wear and tear. The finish on the silver Ligero matches the silver aluminum Apple Watch to perfection and although I can’t speak for the other colors, I would assume they match just as close with whatever finish Apple Watch you may have. Compliments about this band have flooded in while wearing it.

Through several weeks of testing, I’ve had very few complaints. My only issue is with the standard link removal. However, this is something you’ll rarely do, the included removal tool does save some trouble.  I can’t stand having to go to a jeweler to get links removed. Other bands on the market have release buttons on the individual links, and I hope this is something JUUK includes in the future. Just make sure to watch the video in the FAQ’s and take your time.

The Ligero comes in a 38mm and 42mm option, with an assortment of colors: Silver, Cosmic Grey, Ruby, Obsidian, Cobalt, Cadmium, Tyrian, Viridian and Rainbow. The price of this band starts at $119. You can find more details about this band and many others over at juukdesign.com.

A couple of days ago I started working on this rainbow(ish) wallpaper. I had a couple of final versions that were to be this week's wallpaper. Over the weekend I switched to an iPhone 7 Plus  (from iPhone 7). I was having issues syncing and getting iTunes Store errors. I had to get the phone swapped. While I waited for it to sync (at the Apple Store, as I didn't want to come home to the same issue) and restore, I started adding layers upon layers (of various textures, colors, lines) to my one wallpaper. Two imports into Mextures, many Photoshop layers and thirteen versions later... your wallpaper!

I hope you all enjoy.

My Dad's peach tree is just showing off at this point.

It's at a point where some of it's limbs have to be trimmed off because they're taking over that side of the yard. It may be a nuisance but man, is it pretty. There's a spot where the suns rays shine oh-so-perfectly. I knew immediately it'd make a perfect wallpaper.

I wanted to really emphasize the suns rays. But first, I imported it into Mextures  to add dimension to the greens. I then transferred to A Color Story, where I played around with different light leaks until I was satisfied.

I hope you all enjoy.
