iOS App of the Moment: ClearWeather for iPhone

Weather apps are a dime a dozen on iOS and I for one am guilty of downloading a dozen or more myself. Well, now you can add ClearWeather to my arsenal.

ClearWeather for iPhone by Pavel Mikunda is a straightforward weather application for iOS which has a few advantages.

1) The weather for your chosen location is marked by color for quick and easy reference for temperature at a glance.

2) The UI is gesture-based and clean. The sound effects are a nice touch as well giving the initial impression of a well rounded and thought out application.

3) It features forecast details by the day (up to 7 days) and by 3 hours periods over the next 24 hours.

4) The today view gives more details at a glance than just some plain jane weather app. Details include sunrise, sunset, moonrise, moonset, wind details, "feels like" and moon phases.

So what is missing? I had some trouble finding a couple cities. A quick back and forth on Twitter with the dev and he took note of the issue and instructed me to try the zip code to add my custom locations which worked immediately. I expect the location issues will be resolved promptly. Also, like many weather apps out there, radar is missing. That may be a conscience decision by the dev to keep the app streamlined in it's simplicity and design.

This weather app is perfect for a quick glance at weather conditions in multiple cities with it's line by line color marked view. It is responsive and easy to navigate and resides on my iPhone as one of my three current favorite weather applications (the others being Dark Sky and Solar).

Download Clear Weather in the App Store today for just $0.99.

It's useful, beautiful, affordable and fun.
